Melissa Mai

Alumni

is a motion graphics designer who received her Bachelor of Digital Media (now ) from UNSW Art & Design.

Melissa works for the creative studio, FSM, which produces graphics, animations and special effects for TV, film, broadcast and social media. The studio’s output includes commercials (with an aesthetic salute to Popeye the Sailor Man) for Kellogg’s cereal brands, Vodafone’s visual and narrative ‘shared data plan’ commercial, and the ABC4Kids channel brand. Melissa contributed to teams working on each of these campaigns.

FSM is also a major player in the Australian film industry, having produced the special effects and full title credits for Beautiful Kate – Australia’s highest earning film on opening weekend – and Bright Star, for which the New York Magazine said “There isn’t a less than perfect performance.” The hilarious and ironically titled, Not Suitable for Children, had FSM staff in the roles of executive producer, producer, compositor, colourist, and Melissa was the title designer.
