Artwork title: He's Coming Out!

I love dancing, but it's been a long while since I've been comfortable dancing in public. I guess that's why, in some ways, it almost feels easier to animate someone dancing instead. In every other possible way, it is much, much harder though. I really wanted to get this one right. I selected something I enjoy; I used a model of a character I like; I made a whole animatic studying my reference footage and trying to exaggerate all of the key poses before I switched to 3D... and I think it really paid off! It's probably one of my favorite things I've made in any of my animation classes so far, definitely my favorite 3D animation. Absolutely nothing broke on me that I didn't end up being able to fix, which was great. I think it serves as a really good sendoff for the main three animation classes.

Okay, let's do this one last time. My name is Lucky Smith, I was bitten by a stop-motion mechanical spider, and for the last nine years, I've been one of a good amount of people who care a lot about animation. It's pretty easy to guess what happened next. I went to school, doodled on every paper they gave me, got in trouble for doodling on a test once, found out about people posting animations on youtube, uploaded a 10 second long animation made with my finger and a free mobile animation app I haven't used before or since. I joined an animation club, transed my gender, moved across the Pacific Ocean, did an animation for my year 12 major work, and finally ended up here at UNSW. And before you ask, yeah, the Spiderverse movies are probably my favorite animated films. It's kind of a boring question these days, almost feels wrong to say anything else is better sometimes.
