Artist statement

Constellations is a series of drawings in fineliner pen based on various found objects. The objects were collected from around Gordon’s Bay over time, before being drawn, assigned symbols, mapped, and redrawn in a style inspired by old astronomical charts, with groups of spatially mapped objects imagined as symbolic constellations. The work explores an alternate way of mapping site and understanding place which, in a personal sense, involves the connectedness I feel in the process of walking, collecting, drawing, and making.
