Artist statement

This diptych was made using a drawing implement I forged from silver that I inherited from the late Australian artist Margaret West. Gestural lines reach out at arm's length across and beyond the canvases, exploring the significance of this inheritance through a poetry of dualities: infinity and zero, self and other, seen and unseen, known and unknown. The silver’s oxidisation process is adopted as a metaphor for cycles of change and growth, life and death.
