Artist statement

Inscriptions (Finials and Silk) is a multi-component installation that explores themes of trace and silhouette across diverse mediums. The installation features engraved terracotta tiles, moulded from architectural roof finials, placed alongside a silk screen painting. The work draws on references to collection-based objects and archives related to histories of migration and exchange. Additionally, gestures alluding to evidence of presence and absence are evident in traces of forms and outlines, inviting viewers to contemplate the ephemeral and enduring traces of narrative and folklore.
