April commenced studying fine art at UNSW in 2018, graduating with honours in 2022, which led to her commencing studying towards a MFA (Research) in 2023.

Her art practice primarily involves installation works, video artworks and painting, with April often featuring installation pieces in her videos. April enjoys using fabric, recycled and found materials in her installation works. Vulnerability is a concept running through many of April's artworks, such as that of the environment to climate crises, sexual assault and homelessness vulnerability and less tangible vulnerabilities underlying human life.

April has exhibited work in both solo and group exhibitions, details of which are on her website www.aprilmountfort.com. Her most recent exhibition was of her MFA work in progress at UNSW's AD Space in April - May 2024.

Prior to studying fine art April undertook a number of short courses across a range of artistic disciplines at NAS and internationally while working as a solicitor. The legal qualifications she has are a LLM and a Dip Law (SAB).

How does puppetry and video practice-led research champion the relationship between inherent vulnerability and control to discover more positive, productive and beautiful engagements with vulnerability and its intangibility, away from primarily being framed by control, in ecological discourse?
