Regina commenced her candidature as a Scientia PhD Scholar with the Faculty of Law, UNSW in 2017. She is an Affiliate of the Andrew & Renata Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, a member of the Steering Committee of the Forced Migration Research Network, and a member of the International Journal of Refugee Law, Case Law Editorial Team. Her PhD examines the role of street-level bureaucrats in transnational legal compliance with international refugee law through the use of social network analysis. She currently teaches Legal Research and Writing at UNSW and played a key role in the Digital Uplift of the Law in the Global Context core course.

Since 2007, Regina has worked in the fields of immigration, refugee, and international human rights law in the United States, including as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, as a Consultant for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and as an attorney in private practice in Arizona. Her op-eds have appeared in Just Security, The Conversation, and The Interpreter and, in 2018, she earned the National Advocate of the Year Award for her work in opposition to the Trump Travel Ban.
