Bacterial keratitis is a leading cause of monocular corneal blindness, and contact lens wear is a significant risk factor associated with BK. The present review has compared clinical features of ±Ê²õ±ð³Ü»å´Ç³¾´Ç²Ô²¹²õÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýStaphylococcus keratitis, which were two common Gram-negative and positive species, respectively isolated from patients with contact lens-related bacterial keratitis.
The review also discussed the primary immune response associated with a bacterial infection and the inflammatory mediators which were involved in neutrophil recruitment, based on the current studies on animal models and corneal cell cultures. Authors reported several interesting molecules associated with early corneal infection.
