  • Are you interested in attaining a higher degree? A scholarship is now available from The School of Population Health, UNSW for a PhD in research on hip fracture care in resource constrained settings.

    The research program will involve a process evaluation of team-based care for hip fracture implemented in countries across Asia (India, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand). The PhD candidate will use a range of mixed methods, including quantitative and qualitative elements, to generate evidence to support effective implementation of team-based care delivery models to improve hip fracture management. The candidate will join an outstanding team of researchers from UNSW, The George Institute for Global Health and Oxford University delivering a large-scale implementation trial of hip fracture care.

    Who are we are looking?

    Candidates should hold an Honours or Research Masters degree, or have equivalent experience. Candidates based in the trial countries are strongly encouraged to apply. Prior qualitative or mixed methods research experience and authorship of peer reviewed publications will be well regarded.

    • $37,684 per annum (2024 rate), tax-exempt, for three years

  • Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person interested in obtaining a higher degree? A generous scholarship is now available from The School of Population Health and UNSW for a Masters or PhD in Aboriginal youth health and wellbeing.

    We are seeking expressions of interest from candidates to undertake Masters by Research (MRes), Masters in Philosophy (MPhil) or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). There are a several potential research topics open including:

    • Understanding how factors related to social and emotional wellbeing, cardiometabolic risk, and avoidable injury vary across the adolescent age spectrum in the ‘Next Generation’ cohort.
    • Exploring how Aboriginal cultural health, health behaviours and social challenges impact young Aboriginal people’s health and wellbeing in the ‘Next Generation’ cohort
    • Working collaboratively with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders to explore preventive actions and knowledge translation.

  • Are you interested in attaining a higher degree? Scholarships are available from UNSW Sydney for a PhD in research on mathematical models for pandemic preparedness.

    The research program will involve exploring existing and new mathematical models for pandemic pathogens (using the example of COVID-19). The program will be based on identifying priorities for improving modelling frameworks, with a particular focus on capturing impacts of Public Health and Social Measures (PHSMs), in addition to vaccination. The candidate will join the team of researchers at theÌýInfectious Disease Dynamics and Interventions research groupÌýin the School of Population Health, and engage with collaborators at The Kirby Institute, University of Melbourne, and internationally.

  • Are you interested in attaining a higher degree? Scholarships are available from UNSW Sydney for a PhD in research onÌýscaling up a novel precision oncology models of careÌý

    Genomic diagnostics have significantly advanced therapeutic and preventative measures in oncology and cancer genetics. However, despite increased access, the implementation of genomics-based care is hindered by fragmentation and scalability challenges due to insufficient system support.Ìý

    Why study with us?

    The Precision Care Initiative aims to establish an innovative and scalable Precision Care Clinic (PCC). This clinic is specifically designed to coordinate precision medicine in oncology, streamline decision support for oncologists and geneticists, enhance the quality of care through comprehensive and patient-centered communication, and improve translational capacity by integrating expertise in precision oncology, implementation science, clinical informatics, cancer genetics, health economics, and patient-reported outcomes.

    The PhD student will be required to conduct aÌý process evaluation project, and lead a scale-up dataset development/integration, framework and toolkit design.
