AGSM @ UNSW Business School’s MBAX has risen to rank 8th in the world in the Financial Times 2022 Global Online Rankings.

This makes the AGSM MBAX the number one online MBA programme in the Asia-Pacific region.

This comes just four days after the AGSM MBAX was announced as number 4 in the world, and number 1 in the Asia-Pacific, in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2022 Global Online MBA rankings for the third year running.

And according to Professor Nick Wailes, Senior Deputy Dean UNSW Business School and Director AGSM, the School's performance in these global rankings is another indicator that online MBAs are now considered a mainstay offering of executive education.

“We are immensely proud of the continuing success of the AGSM MBAX programme in a competitive global online MBA market,” he said. “While the pandemic certainly accelerated the demand for high-quality online education, we know that this was growing before 2020. The pandemic simply highlighted the vital importance of access to executive education that was less likely to be impacted by unpredictable interruptions, such as the onset of COVID-19.”

“Online program delivery has intrinsic benefits. For example, its flexibility, and accessibility to those who might not have thought to – or been able to – access an MBA-level education."

“Available specialisations in Technology, Social Impact, Change, Law or Finance also make the AGSM MBAX an attractive choice for contemporary leaders who want to make a positive impact."

“We are constantly working with industry leaders and academics to ensure our curriculum enables a new generation of leaders to thrive in an increasingly complex world,” said Wailes. “And it’s this approach to continuously improve and adapt the AGSM MBAX that we think is key to its success in world rankings, such as The Financial Times.”

The latest Financial Times rankings use indicators such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), program diversity, research rank, international faculty, salary increase, and more, to assess the world’s top online MBA programs of today.

AGSM was ranked second in the world for its ESG ranking among the top Online MBAs. It also ranked joint first place for Women on Board (50 per cent), second place for Female Students (40 per cent) and ranked third in the world for Women Faculty (41 per cent).

“Last year, AGSM became the first management school in Australia to offer a fully integrated global Responsible Management curriculum in all our MBA programs,” said Associate Professor Michele Roberts, AGSM Academic Director.

AGSM was also ranked fourth in the world in Financial Times’ Salary Increase (32 per cent) indicator. Associate Professor Roberts said it’s wins like this that demonstrate industry and student demand for socially conscious leadership.

“Today’s successful leaders value the importance of balancing purpose with profit,” she said. “Not only is this what we are hearing from industry, but increasingly over the past several years, we have observed a growing number of students sharing the viewpoint that what is good for the environment and people is also good for business and economies.”
