The School of Mathematics and Statistics hosted its 10th annual Postgraduate Conference on Friday 11 August in UNSW's Colombo Theatres.

The day featured 46 presentations, ranging from research talks, lengthier plenary presentations, and a dedicated session introducing our newest research students via flash talks. We also held a poster exhibit, displaying seven posters by postgraduate students communicating their current research.

The plenary sessions were delivered by Eva-Maria Hekkelman, Abi Srikumar and Kai Yi.

This year's theme was Research Translation in all its Forms. The event provided a stage for our students to share their current work, showcasing the dynamic research flowing from our cohort.

This year we partnered with SIG, who generously sponsored our conference and prizes. It was wonderful to have several of their representatives join the event and network with our students and staff members.

Prizes were awarded to:
Daniel Boettger (Best Talk: Applied Maths)
Christian Bagshaw (Best Talk: Pure Maths)
Anant Mathur (Best Talk: Statistics)
Daniel Czapski (Best Poster: People's Choice)
Stuart-James Burney (Best Talk: People's Choice).

A very big congratulations to our prize winners!

Following the day's program, attendees enjoyed an after-party in the Colombo foyer.

Thank you to the 2023 PG Conference Committee for running such a successful event: Christian De Nicola Larsen, Jann Duxbury-Roberts, Ahmad Hakiim Jamaluddin, Hongzhi Liao, Susannah Waters, Jan Zika.Â
