AGSM @ UNSW Business School’s online MBA has ranked first in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2023 Asia Pacific Online MBA rankings.

AGSM has maintained this top position for the second year running. “We take great pride in the ongoing achievements of the AGSM MBAX program within a highly competitive online MBA landscape,” said Professor Nick Wailes, Senior Deputy Dean UNSW Business School and Director AGSM.

“The MBAX is designed to offer students an education experience akin to our other MBA programs, with the added flexibility of online study. As remote work and study become increasingly prevalent, our ability to adapt is crucial. The significant surge in enrolments and impressive rankings affirm our pioneering efforts in meeting these evolving objectives,” he said.

AGSM achieved a perfect score of 100 - a result that matches the top-ranked European Online MBA programs. The Online MBA programs are ranked across four key indicators: Faculty and Teaching (35%), Class Profile (30%), Employability (30%), and Class Experience (5%).

AGSM ranked well above the average for these indicators, particularly in Employability, where its score of 85.8 was 37 points ahead of the mean program score of 48.8. The AGSM MBAX program was ranked first for this indicator out of eight other programs.

As well as achieving high results for Employability, AGSM was ranked also ranked first among the other programs for Faculty and Teaching, scoring 86.9, 31.5 points ahead of the average of 55.4. This indicator is based on academic reputation (15%), Faculty Student Ratio (10%) and Completion Rate (10%).

Professor Wailes highlighted that the AGSM MBAX's success stems from its focus on adapting and enhancing the program to equip the next generation of leaders for success in our ever-evolving world.

“We are continuously assessing how we can update our MBA programs to be in line with what industry and the global community require, and to enable executives to make a positive impact,” he said.

“The MBAX excels in employability and faculty and teaching metrics, reflecting both the students we attract and the substantial investment we've made in career services across AGSM. An AGSM MBAX graduate not only earns a qualification but also gains the essential skills to advance their career, transition between industries, or embark on a new entrepreneurial journey.”

In other key indicators, AGSM ranked fourth in Class Profile scoring 67.4 (above the average of 49.9). For Class Experience the MBAX program scored 76 points (above the average of 67.5).

Earlier this year, the AGSM MBA (Executive) ranked 37 out of 199 programs in the QS 2024 Global Executive MBA Rankings - ranking among the top 18% globally. It also ranked 11th in Asia Pacific - in the top 10% in the region.

The QS Global EMBA Rankings consider five key performance indicator groups: Career Outcomes, Diversity, Employer Reputation, Executive Profile, and Thought Leadership. AGSM ranked highly in Thought Leadership, positioning in at 23rd (24th in 2022), with an earned score of 83.3 out of 100 (80 in 2022)– around 36 points ahead of the global average.

“These rankings affirm that AGSM's MBA Executive program maintains its position as a premier choice for individuals aiming to drive meaningful change in an ever evolving and complex world. AGSM’s program stands among the elite, empowering aspiring leaders to make a lasting impact,” said Professor Wailes.
