Associate Professor Matt Woolley
Scholarships of $35k AUD for domestic and international students are available for Masters and PhD candidates in the areas of Quantum Optomechanics, Quantum Control, and Quantum Optics. Please contact me for details.
Dr Woolley is an Associate Professor at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ at the Australian Defence Force Academy. He undertakes research on the theory of engineered quantum systems and teaches into the Electrical Engineering program. His research interests include quantum optomechanics, superconducting quantum circuits, quantum acoustics, and quantum control. He has taught Engineering Electromagnetics, Design of Electronic Circuits 1, and Digital Signal Processing and Control. He is the Coordinator of the Chief of Defence Force (CDF) advanced students programs.Ìý
Dr Woolley obtained his BE(Hons)-BSc at the University of Tasmania. He gained his PhD at the University of Queensland, under the supervision of Professors Gerard Milburn and Andrew Doherty. He was subsequently a Postdoctoral Research Associate working with Professors Aashish Clerk (McGill University) and Alexandre Blais (Université de Sherbrooke), before joining ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ.
Dr Woolley has collaborated with experimental groups at Cornell University, ETH Zurich, the University of Western Australia, the University of Queensland, and Aalto University. He has been a Visiting Scientist at Keio University and the University of Tokyo in 2015 (Australian Academy of Science Fellowship), and at Princeton University in 2017 (Endeavour Fellowship). He is an Associate Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS 2) from 2018 until 2024, and is a member of the Advanced Electromagnetics group at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ.Ìý
