Overview
UNSW’s Master of Property and Development is a 1.7 year, or 1 year accelerated postgraduate degree that will equip you to work at the cutting-edge of a dynamic industry.
You’ll learn the modern principles of property investment, development and management and apply them across different phases of the industry cycle, learning to achieve successful outcomes in financial viability, risk management, sustainability as well as facilities and asset management.ÌýÌý
Career advancement is at the core of this degree. The dynamic courses in this degree are developed in consultation with industry to adapt to changes and trends. As part of an interdisciplinary community in UNSW’s School of Built Environment you’ll communicate and collaborate with students and experts in architecture, design, and planning - mirroring real industry relationships. The option to undertake professional placement elective means you’ll also have the chance to practice in a real-world setting and form career networks.
In your final term, you’ll complete a research project giving you the portfolio, research experience, confidence and connections to succeed in the future of property development. Ìý

Entry requirements
There are two different entry pathways to the Master of Property and Development. The program you apply for will depend on whether you’re eligible to undertake the accelerated program or not.
Your eligibility depends on your academic background. The depth of your prior experience may be considered, depending on how closely it relates to property development.
1.7 years full-time program | 72 Units of Credit (UOC)
- A bachelor degree with a credit average in a related field*, OR
- A bachelor degree in any field with a credit average plus three years construction industry experience at a managerial level, OR
- A Graduate Certificate in Property and Development with a credit average
1 year full-time program | 48 Units of Credit (UOC)
- An undergraduate honours degree with a credit average in a related field*, OR
- An undergraduate honours with a credit average in an unrelated field honours plus 3 years construction industry experience at a managerial level, OR
- A master’s degree with a credit average in a related* field
If you meet the criteria for the 1 year program, you’ll receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) credit points for two research courses and one elective (24 UOC).Ìý

Admission pathways
If you didn’t meet the entry requirements in your undergraduate studies, you can study UNSW’s Graduate Certificate in Property and Development (24 UOC) as a pathway into the Master Program to complete the remaining 48 UOC.

You may be asked to provide evidence of your English proficiency to study at UNSW depending on your educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations - this is why UNSW requires a minimum English language competency for enrolment.
If you’re completing an Australian Year 12 qualification (e.g. NSW HSC or equivalent), you do not need to provide anything extra to prove your proficiency. Your qualification will be used as evidence of your English proficiency.
If you do need to provide evidence of your English proficiency, this will be indicated in your application. You can prove this by providing evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:

Each university year at UNSW has three terms and an optional summer study period. You can study full-time or part-time. Depending on how you plan your study load, you can fit two or three courses into a term and one course in a summer term.

Research project
In your final semester of study, you'll devise and independently undertake a major research project. You'll specialise in an area of interest and build further depth and expertise in that area. Before undertaking the project, you’ll complete a research seminar which will provide you with the research skills needed. Your project will relate to professional practice in project management, equipping you with real-world skills you can carry into the workplace.
