The ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society () was established in 2020 and is funded until 2027. It brings together researchers in the humanities and social sciences, communication and media studies, law, computer science and data science. 

Our research programs and focus areas

Our research is designed to expand, integrate, and apply knowledge of the dynamics of automated decision-making so that it is responsible, ethical and inclusive.

There are four research programs (People, Data, Machines and Institutions) and four focus areas (Health, Social Services, Mobilities and News and Media).

Our people

UNSW Sydney is one of the 9 universities in ADM+S.

The UNSW Node is lead by Professor Deborah Lupton, who also leads the Health Focus Area and co-leads the People Program.

Other Chief Investigators in the UNSW Sydney Node are Professor Flora Salim, Faculty of Engineering, and , Director of the Disability Innovation Institute.

This Centre is funded by the Australian Government through the Australian Research Council.
