Enhance your differentiation skills and ability to cater to gifted learners
GERRIC at UNSW is an authority in Australia for professional educators looking to enhance their ability to help gifted students flourish in today’s classroom.
GERRIC provides in-services and short professional learning courses to individual educators, schools or groups of schools.
GERRIC will help you to:
- Identify gifted and talented students
- Differentiate the curriculum for your high-ability students
- Implement ability grouping or acceleration with your students
- Understand gifted education best practices.
GERRIC at UNSW School of Education supports the NSW Department of Education’s revised High Potential and Gifted Education Policy, operational in all NSW Schools since Term 1, 2021. Our research features in the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation (CESE) literature review, which accompanies the policy and provides a major support resource.
The policy identifies that a broader approach is needed to ensure all students who are gifted or have high potential maximise their learning outcomes. Our Mini-COGE contributes to one of the policy’s key actions to “build teacher and leadership capacity through engagement with quality research and ongoing professional learning on effective practices”.
