ACSER’s work is in three areas relevant to space: satellite navigation, small spacecraft design, and space resources. With Australia’s space industry growing rapidly, experience in actual space projects will assist graduates seeking those highly competitive roles. We have already seen our interns placed in senior space positions around the globe.

VIP ChallENG research goals

  • Design and build a satellite/satellites with an ultimate aim of launch.
  • Develop projects to win international space competitions. Each year, new competitions will be evaluated, and teams developed for the best opportunities.

Research areas:

Small spacecraft, Satellite navigation, Space resources.

Research, design & technical issues:

Full range of engineering challenges, system engineering. Varied, depending on competition. E.g. Rover type competitions will require fault-tolerant design of hardware and software.
