We have substantial and active university-industry partnerships, focusing our teaching and research on real-world applications. As part of our commitment to maintaining these strong links, we invite companies andÌýorganisationsÌýto join our Industry Partners Program.ÌýThis program helps fund our outreach programsÌýwith potential future students, in primary and high schools. This includes our very successful Primary SchoolÌýMathsÌýPrize and Year 10 Engineering Work Experience Week.ÌýFunds are also used to run events that link our undergraduates with our Industry Partners.Ìý

It's important to us that high school students can see a direct path from university to the exciting and challenging world of engineering. The Industry Partners Program presents great opportunities to develop a productive relationship with the school, its staff and students.

Industry partner events

There are a number of ways we foster connections between you and our engineering students throughout the academic year. These include:Ìý

  • Industry Partners Careers Market: This annual event allows you to meet with Year 3 and 4 students, identifying likely candidates for industrial training placements or graduate employment.
  • Elite Student Breakfast: We host this event at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney each year. Our top students engage with Industry Partner representatives in a relaxed setting.
  • Career Information Mail-Outs: We will directly email career information on behalf of Industry Partners to all relevant undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Industry-funded academic positions

Some of our industry partners actively invest in extending the research and uses of engineering and scientific knowledge. Several of our academic positions are currently funded through the generosity of industry partners, including:Ìý

  • Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO): The public research organisation provides funding support for a Senior Research Fellow, Dr Andrew Kinsela. His work on trace elements (metal, metalloid and actinide) and environmental chemistry aims for aquatic and soil remediation.Ìý
  • Advisian (formerly Evans & Peck): This international infrastructure-based advisory company established a new Chair in 2010 – the Evans & Peck Professor for Transport Innovation. In 2011, Professor Travis Waller was appointed to lead a new faculty-wide Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (RCITI). In 2015, Advisian formally expressed their high level of satisfaction with Waller and his team by signing up to support the renamed Advisian Professor for Transport Innovation Chair into the future.Ìý
  • Pells Sullivan Meynink Pty Ltd (PSM): This high-profile firm of specialist geotechnical consultants provide funding support for the position of Pells Sullivan Meynink Senior Lecturer of Rock Mechanics, Dr Kurt Douglas.Ìý
