Every year, with the support of industry partners, we offer a range of prizes to reward students for their outstanding work and achievements. To be eligible, you must be in a program offered by our School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications.

The Canon Information Systems Research Australia (CiSRA) Digital Systems Poster Competition Prize (E0199U)

Students completing their thesis project demonstrate their work in a poster session. These are judged by our academics, and the top 10 are displayed in our meeting room, G3, for the next year. The top three posters receive a certificate and cash prizes:

  • First place $700
  • Second place $500
  • Third place $300 

The Electric Energy Society of Australia Prize – NSW Chapter (E0192U)

For the best overall performance including proficiency in Electric Power Distribution in Year 3 full-time (or equivalent part-time) stages of the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering program.

$500, bi-monthly newsletter plus free registration and a 12-month subscription.

The Eliathamby Ambikairajah Humanitarian Engineering Prize (S1484E)

For the student who has significantly committed their time and engineering skills to non-profit organisations, and who continues to do so. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible. The award is worth $2000.

The Michael Hintze Memorial Prize in Power Engineering (E0887E)

For the best performance in final year undergraduate thesis in Energy Systems – Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering). The award is worth $500.

The Eliathamby Ambikairajah Humanitarian Engineering Award

This award recognises students who have significantly committed time and engineering skills to non-profit organisations and continue to engage in humanitarian engineering. The award is worth $2000, where $1000 goes to the successful recipient and $1000 goes to the non-profit organisation that the recipient nominates. The non-profit organisation must have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and Tax Concession (TCC) status.

The Eliathamby Ambikairajah Engineering Leadership Award

This award recognises a first-year undergraduate student enrolled in the BE ME in Electrical Engineering with Minor program, who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities throughout their high school years. The award is worth $2000.

School thesis poster competition

Our school hosts an annual competition to recognise the best thesis poster presentation by final year students. The best posters are awarded with cash prizes and then presented in a thesis poster reception. Have a look at our previous winners.
