The transition from being a PhD student to an independent postdoctoral researcher can be a difficult time for many early-career academics, as they as they adjust to the new demands of this career stage. The NDARC Early Career Researcher (ECR) Training & Development Program were established to facilitate this transition.

The Program provides a supportive infrastructure for NDARC and external collaborating ECRs through training, networking and social opportunities. Experienced academics and professionals both within and outside NDARC share their insight and learning to support ECRs and their research activities. The committee meets monthly and these meetings involve a series of interactive workshop sessions, facilitated discussion and small group activities focussed around:

  • Publishing
  • Grants and funding
  • Collaboration and networking
  • Mentoring
  • Project management
  • CV preparation and promotion applications
  • Career planning
  • Professional development and training workshops
