  • No. There is only one intake (in Term 1) per year for the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology program. For term dates, please refer to the academic calendar.

  • The program can be completed in one year full time or two years part time. There is a compulsory one week intensive on site at UNSW at the beginning of Term 1, and the first placement must be completed in Sydney. Accommodations for regional students will be made to attend the remaining workshops remotely where possible.

  • The program is designed to limit workshops/tutorials to one day a week with a compulsory intensive week during O-week. Placements will take additional time and this will be negotiated to meet your learning needs as well as available placements.

We will be accommodating trainees from regional areas as much as possible by providing the opportunity for virtual attendance (not available for local trainees).

  • The program is full fee paying. Generic information about fees can be found on the . Fees for individual courses can be found in the individual course records in the .

    • Current registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with an Area of Practice Endorsement or equivalent.
    • Successful completion of a 6-year APAC accredited sequence of study in psychology, including a major research thesis.

Psychology qualifications from overseas must include a major research thesis/project and must be assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) as comparable to a six-year APAC-accredited sequence of psychology completed in Australia.

  • The School cannot answer this.

If your psychology qualification is/will be awarded by a non-Australian institution, you must apply (at a cost) to have it assessed by the .

If the APS determine that your qualification is comparable to a six-year, APAC-accredited sequence of study in psychology completed in Australia, and you have completed a research thesis/major research project as part of that qualification, then you are eligible to apply.

Note that the APS will only assess qualifications that have been completed.

  • Yes. Upon graduation, you will be able to commence a registrar program for endorsement as a Clinical Neuropsychologist. As this will be a second area of practice endorsement, you are required to complete 60-hours of supervision with a board approved supervisor (over a minimal 66-weeks of practice).

  • Probably not without completing further qualifications. Unfortunately there is little international agreement regarding psychology qualifications. Although the country you want to work in may give you some credit for your Australian qualifications, you are likely to need to complete additional qualifications. It is particularly difficult for an Australian-trained psychologist to work in the USA.

  • The School looks for one academic referee and who you nominate as your second referee is up to you. While there is no set requirement for one academic and one professional referee, you should consider who can best speak to your capabilities and suitability for the program/s to which you are applying.

The Selection Committee/s will read only two references. If you share more than two references with UNSW, only the ones written by the referees nominated on your Supplementary Application Form (SAF) will be read. If the references you share with UNSW are not written by the referees nominated on your SAF you will be asked to re-confirm your referees.
