The Drop-in Centre is now online and in-person

The Mathematics Drop-in Centre*Ìýis a teaching and learning project of the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

The Mathematics Drop-in Centre onlineÌýincludes the Lab Consultants.

It is a drop-in centre service for UNSW students undertaking any first year MATH course (including MATH1041) and second year students currently studying MATH2018 / MATH2019.

NB: *Note this service was formerly known as the Student Support Scheme.

Free tuition

  • The Mathematics Drop-in CentreÌýprovides free one-on-one tutoring for students.
  • There's no need to register,Ìýjust drop-in!

The Drop-in Centre now has an online home.Ìý If you are in one of the courses it serves, you should see it in the your Dashboard on Moodle or you can use this direct link:Ìý.

In-person Mathematics Drop-in Centre tutors and lab consultants will be available in theÌýAnita B. Lawrence Centre (formerly Red Centre) G012B. To access this lab, enter through the Central Wing of the Centre and go downstairs.

Drop-in Centre support is available from 10am to 3pm:

  • Monday, Wednesday and FridayÌý (Online)
  • Monday to Friday (In-Person at G012B Lab)

Lab consultation is available 3pm- 5pm:

  • Monday, Wednesday and FridayÌý (Online)
  • Monday to Friday (In-Person at G012B Lab)

Tutors

All tutors are mathematics students at UNSW (in third year or higher) and are required to meet certain criteria before being allowed to become tutors.

If you want to become a tutor, you should apply to Dr Alan Stoneham (a.stoneham@unsw.edu.au) for more information.

Please note that applicants who hold a Doctorate are not able to apply.

There are many topics from school mathematics which we do not teach in first year classes, but which we assume that you know. The worksheets on theÌýRevision WorksheetsÌýpage are designed to help students learn topics which they may not be coping with.
