    1. You must have completed 36 UOC at the time of assessment. This does not include current or future enrolment.

    • If you’re in your final term, do not submit an IPT application. Contact The Nucleus: Student Hub to be manually transferred once results are released.
    • Students transferring from a non-Commerce program into any Commerce program must complete all components of myBCom as per program requirements.

    • Students transferring into any Actuarial Studies program must complete ECON1101 and ECON1102. If you have completed COMM1100 and COMM1150 in your previous program, these courses will not count towards this program.

    • Students transferring into the Bachelor of Information Systems program (3979) must complete COMM1100, (COMM1140 or COMM1150), and COMM1110.

      However, if you have completed ECON1101 or ECON1102 or ECON1203 in your previous program, you will not be required to complete COMM1100/1150/1110 respectively.

      If you have only partially or not completed COMM1100/1150/1110, you must complete COMM1100/(1140 or 1150)/1110. E.g., if only ECON1101 was completed in your previous program, you must complete COMM1140 and COMM1110.

    • Students transferring into any Commerce program (except ACTL/COMM and COMM/ECON) must complete COMM1100 and COMM1150.

      However, if you have completed ECON1101 and ECON1102 in your previous program, you must also complete COMM1900 to meet COMM1100/1150 requirements.

      If you have only completed ECON1101, you should complete ECON1102 and COMM1900.

    • Students transferring into any Economics program must complete ECON1101, ECON1102, ECON1203.

      However, if you have completed COMM1100 or COMM1150 or COMM1110 in your previous program, you will not be required to complete ECON1101/1102/1203 respectively.

      If you have only partially or not completed COMM1100/1150/1110, you must complete ECON1101/1102/1203. E.g., if only COMM1100 was completed in your previous program, you must complete ECON1102 and ECON1203.

Postgraduate programs available for IPT

  • Transfers into programs in the Arts, Design & Architecture faculty will be assessed based on: 

    • The requested program's entry criteria, and
    • Be on good academic standing, and 
    • Completed a minimum of 1 term in their current program.Ìý

    Credit transfer (RPL) may be granted during the IPT application assessment if completed courses count towards the requested program.

    Articulating between Graduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters

    If you are within an articulated suite (Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Masters), you will be approved to transfer to a higher-level program if you are:

    • In good academic standing, and
    • Minimum 65 WAM, and 
    • Completed at least 18UOC at UNSW (excluding credit transfer).
  • Transferring between programs with the same entry criteria

    If you are transferring between postgraduate Business School programs with the same entry criteria (e.g. 8404 Master of Commerce to 8417 Master of Commerce (Extension)), you will not need to meet any additional entry requirements and may be transferred without further assessment.

    Transferring to a program with different entry criteria

    If you fall under either of the categories below, you must meet the minimum entry requirements for the requested program transfer:

    • You are transferring from a postgraduate non-Business School program to Business School program (e.g. 8338 Master of Engineering Science to 8404 Master of Commerce), or
    • You are transferring from a postgraduate Business School program to another Business School program with different entry criteria

    Entry criteria include minimum English Language Requirements for programs. These can be found on the Degree Finder.Ìý

  • If you are transferring to a postgraduate Engineering degree from a different faculty or to a different Engineering school, you will need to:

    • Meet the minimum entry requirements for the requested program transfer, and
    • Have completed 18 UOC at UNSW (credit transfer excluded)

    Articulating between a Graduate Certificate and Masters

    If you are in one of the below sequences, you will be automatically articulated from the Graduate Certificate to the Masters once you have successfully completed 18 UOC:

  • UNSW Law and Justice offers an internal pathway between the and the .Ìý

    Non-law postgraduate students interested in either the Master of Laws (LLM) or Juris Doctor (JD) programs must apply directly through .

    • Eligibility

      • Completed a minimum of 18 UOC LLM LAWS courses at UNSW, and
      • Minimum 75 overall WAM

      Intake for the JD program is only available in Term 1 and Term 3.

      Credit transfer

      Up to 24 UOC in unspecified credit. You may be able to receive further credit if you have completed additional courses or subjects that are taught in both the JD and LLM programs.Ìý

      Note: Domestic students interested in competing for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) in the Juris Doctor must apply through .Ìý

    • Eligibility

      There is no WAM requirements to transfer from JD to LLM.Ìý

      Credit transfer

      All JURD courses that you have successfully completed will be credited towards the LLM program. This may also include RPL from a partially completed LLM or JD completed at another institution. However, this will be assessed during the PG IPT application process.Ìý

      If you have completed  (6 UOC) and  (0 UOC), you will be:

      • Exempt from completing Ìý²¹²Ô»å , and
      • Receive 6 UOC unspecified credit. As JURD7155 is a 0 UOC course, you'll still be required to complete an additional 6 UOC to meet the 48 UOC program completion requirements.
    • As a current postgraduate student, you may transfer between programs within the School of Population Health without further assessment if you are on good academic standing.Ìý

      If you are on a non-good academic standing, your program transfer application must be assessed by the corresponding Program Director.Ìý

    • If you are a Forensic Mental Health postgraduate student transferring between the programs below, you will not need to meet any additional requirements and may be transferred without further assessment:

    • If you wish to transfer to a program within the School of Optometry and Vision Science, you must contact the school via oandm@unsw.edu.au to discuss your eligibility.Ìý

    • If you are transferring from a program in another faculty, you must meet the minimum entry requirements for the requested program, which can be viewed through the Degree Finder.Ìý

    • If you are already a Medicine & Health student but would like to transfer to a different school within the faculty (e.g. Master of Global Health to Master of Health Data Science), you must meet the minimum entry requirements for the requested program, which can be found in the Degree Finder.Ìý

    • If you are transferring from a different faculty, you must ensure that you have:

      • Minimum average of 65 in level 3+ mathematical and/or statistical university courses, and
      • Written approval from the Postgraduate Director or Head of School Nominee to be admitted into the program via IPT.
    • As a student enrolled in or , you can articulate to one of the following degrees once you meet the below requirements:

      • , or
      • , or

      Entry requirements

      • Completed either the Graduate Certificate or Diploma, and
      • Minimum 70 WAM

      Note: All completed courses in your current program that count towards the Masters program will be transferred over in your IPT. This will be up to 24 UOC for Graduate Certificate students and 48 UOC for Graduate Diploma students.

      UNSW Online programs

      If you are transferring from or , you can articulate into the higher level program once you have:

      • Completed your current program, and
      • Minimum 65 WAM.

      Note: You are not permitted to skip programs if you are articulating to a higher-level degree in UNSW Online. If you are in a Graduate Certificate, you must articulate to and complete the Graduate Diploma before being permitted to transfer to the Masters program.

    • You must meet the following requirements in order to transfer to a UNSW Online program:

      • Minimum average of 70 across Level 3+ courses in mathematics, statistics, computer science or econometrics, and
      • Written approval from the Postgraduate Program Director to be admitted into the requested program.
