UNSW collaborates with Parents at Work to provide support to UNSW parents and soon-to-be parents, on topics such as Preparing for Parental Leave, Returning to Work After Parental Leave, and Managing Mental Wellbeing for You and Your Family.

Preparing for parental leave

In this interactive group session run by experts in parental leave transition Parents At Work, experienced coaches will provide practical tools and insightful tips that will support you, your family and your career as you prepare to go on parental leave. Whether it’s your first pregnancy, second or more, it is important to plan and prepare for a smooth transition and set yourself and your family up for a strong foundation on your return.

  • Reviewing your career progress and plan
  • Managing your pregnancy at work
  • Making staying-in-touch during leave easier
  • Planning for future flexible work arrangements

Returning to work after parental leave

Returning to Work after parental leave can be both an exciting and challenging time with new routines to be navigated along with a mixture of emotions. This session will help you plan and prepare for your return to work. In this interactive group session run by experts in parental leave transition Parents At Work, experienced coaches will provide essential and informative tips on how to effectively manage your return to work. If you’ve already returned to work, this session will help to explore what is and isn’t working and re-evaluate what you need to make the return to work experience a positive one.

Managing mental wellbeing for you and your family

This webinar 'meet up' is a chance to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing at every stage through life and to share ways to look after you, your children and extended family.

National Carers Week: Supporting you through your care giving journey

In Australia alone, there are 2.65 million people who care for family and friends every, single, day. Often these roles are unpaid and performed alongside their formal work responsibilities.

Join us in National Carers Week 2023 as our partners from Parents At Work deliver a special session to raise awareness about Care Giving in Australia and offer support to those in caregiving roles.

Many of us have caregiving responsibilities be they formal or informal or will do so in future. This session will cover -

  • The broad and important role carers occupy in our community
  • Reflecting on the caring needs of your family and friends
  • Getting on the front foot and planning for our future
  • Importance of caring for the carer
