Be a Better Human

Be A Better Human

Welcome

Arc and UNSW have partnered in an initiative called 'Be A Better Human' in order to help strengthen a respectful and inclusive culture.Together we want to encourage everyone to do more when it comes to understanding, preventing and responding to disrespectful behaviours.

Over the coming weeks and months we will talk openly and honestly about key issues such as racism, discrimination, misconduct, bullying and harassment, as someone who has been affected, that persons friend and even as a bystander.

Join in the conversation and let's figure out how we can be better humans.

About

The campaign is called Be a Better Human, because we don’t just want it to be about what we shouldn’t do; we want it to be about self-improvement for everyone. And when we say ‘everyone’, we really do mean everyone.

Speak out

In this ongoing video series we meet and talk to people who courageously share their own experiences, the impact it’s had, what they’ve learnt and how ‘active bystanders’ could have helped

What is an active bystander?

A bystander is a person who is present and witnesses something but is not directly involved in it whereas an active bystander is someone who not only witnesses a situation, but takes action to keep a situation from escalating or to disrupt a problematic situation.

Help & support

If you would like to talk to someone about a personal or professional matter that is causing you concern, free help, support and counselling services are available to students and staff at UNSW.

Report an incident

Whether you have been directly affected, are a witness to an incident or a support person, you can make an official complaint, an anonymous report or simply provide feedback.

SBS Inclusion Program
