Free help, support and counselling services

If you would like to talk to someone about a personal or professional matter that is causing you concern, free help, support and counselling services are available to students and staff at UNSW.

Student support

We work with all students to promote the development of skills needed to succeed at university, whilst also providing personal support. We can help with academic and education performance, professional development and study support, accommodation and tenancy information, financial management and student loans and personal and health issues.

UNSW Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides free and confidential telehealth and face to face counselling sessions to all students at UNSW. Speak to someone today

Are you living with a disability or a health / mental health condition that impacts your studies? Equitable Learning Services (ELS)  is a free and confidential service that provides practical support to ensure your health condition doesn't adversely affect your studies.

Staff support

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counselling, coaching and wellbeing service free for all for UNSW staff and their immediate family members. The service can help you achieve lifestyle, work, personal and family goals and assist you with managing work and life experiences, issues or concerns that arise from time to time.

Report an incident

Whether you have been directly affected, are a witness to an incident or a support person, you can make an official complaint, an anonymous report or simply provide feedback.

If you or someone you know is subject to an on-campus incident, UNSW security staff are available 24/7 on 9385 6666.

1800RESPECT is Australia’s National Helpline responding to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.  They are available 24/7 for phone or online counselling and to provide referrals to appropriate services around Australia.  It can be a fantastic first introduction to counselling and a gateway to other services.
